Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 15 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen expressed his desire to have Cambodia-Russia Free Trade Agreement (FTA) in order to expand trade and investment, speaking during Russian secretary of the security council Nikolai Patrushev paid a courtesy call on the premier on Wednesday at Peace Palace.

According to the premier’s secretary Eang Sophalleth, premier Hun Sen wanted FTA to be made under bilateral and multilateral frameworks and wanted Russia to study the possibility of transferring machinery equipment and workshop skills to Cambodia.

The premier expressed his deepest gratitude to the government and the people of the former Soviet Union and the Russian Federation for support and valuable assistances to the government and the people of Cambodia during the difficult time.

Nikolai Patrushev conveyed regards from Russian president Vladimir Putin to Cambodian prime minister.

The secretary also briefed on the progress and appreciation of the cooperation between the two countries in the fields of politics, defense, social affairs, education, economy, trade, investment, information technology, energy, technology, information exchange, and security and pledged to expand cooperation between the two countries.
