Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 18 – Cambodian defence minister and chairman of the 32nd Cambodian SEA Games Organizing Committee (CAMSOC) 2023 Tea Banh raised 11 important events during pre-SEA Games ASEAN Para Games 2023.

He spoke at the inauguration ceremony of the Morodok Techo National Stadium and the launch of the 2023 SEA Game-ASEAN Para Game on Saturday.

The 11 important events are:

1. Cambodia will send 135 national team players to train in People's Republic of China under grant of Chinese government in January 2022.

2. The first meeting of the Southeast Asian Sports Council in Siem Reap, to be held on February 2022, is chaired by minister Thong Khon in order to review the host's progress of the identified key host principles for the SEA Games member countries to follow the SEA Games charter.

3. From 12-23 May 2022, Cambodia will participate in the 31st SEA Games in Hanoi, Viet Nam and the preparation of the Cambodian delegation to receive the SEA Games flag to Cambodia as well as learn from Viet Nam’s experiences.

4. In September 2022, Cambodia participates in the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, which is the last strategic sports competition prior to the SEA Games in Cambodia.

5. In January 2023, the 100-day countdown and the meeting of the mission delegates of the 11 member countries.

6. In February 2023, the Royal Ceremony for the SEA Games-ASEAN Para Games at Angkor Wat under the patronage of Cambodian king Norodom Sihamoni and the torchlight procession to ASEAN member countries and return surrounding the Tonle Sap of Cambodia.

7. On 22 April 2023, "Sport Village" will open to welcome sports delegates.

8. On 1 May 2023, the first football match will kick off.

9. On 5 May 2023, the official opening ceremony will kick off.

10. On 17 May 2023, the official closing ceremony.

11. From 3-9 June 2023, Cambodia will continue to organize the ASEAN Disability Sports Competition.

The Morodok Techo National Stadium is located in Prek Tamak Quarter, Russey Keo District, Phnom Penh, which is 12 kilometers from Wat Phnom with the total area of more than 85 hectares.
