Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 18– Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen hoped that there is no more pressure or sanctions imposed on Cambodia, citing Cambodia-China close ties.

The premier spoke at the inauguration ceremony of the Morodok Techo National Stadium and the launch of the 2023 SEA Game-ASEAN Para Game on Saturday.

"I hope there will be no more pressure and sanctions put or impose on Cambodia for being close to China," the premier said.

"Cambodia's achievement is not a coincidence. Cambodia builds a relationship with China based on trust, mutual respect and solidarity since the People's Socialist Community era. This achievement provides Cambodia the encouragement to further develop socio-economics, and strengthen independence as well as national sovereignty," the premier added.

Samdech also expressed his deepest gratitude to the late king father Norodom Sihanouk for initiating diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China.
