Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 20 – As Cambodia fully reopens, Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen pledged to continue to fight against COVID19, speaking in a special message on Monday.
"Even though the 20 February community event is concluded today, the battle against COVID19 still continues," the premier said.
The kingdom has successfully controlled the 20 February COVID19 community transmission after tracing only single-digit confirmed cases and no deaths, the premier underlined.
Samdech commended the Ministry of Health, medical doctors, the armed forces and the people who actively participated in fighting COVID19.
The premier also thanked China, Japan, UK, the United States, and the Netherlands for providing vaccine aids to Cambodia to fight against COVID19.
Premier Hun Sen called on Cambodian people to stand up together to fight against COVID19 and strictly adhere to the health measures. He also expressed his deepest condolences to the families of the victims who died of COVID19.
Cambodia has so far received more than 40 million doses of COVID19 vaccine to inoculate her people. The kingdom has administered at least one dose of vaccines to more than 14 million people, or nearly 89 percent of its total population. More than 3 million people have received third dose or booster shot.
Today (20 Dec), Cambodia reported seven new cases of COVID19 and no one is dead. Cambodia has confirmed 120,423 cases of COVID19 with 116,803 recoveries and 3,005 deaths.
