Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 20 – Muth Chantha, former chief cabinet of former opposition leader Kem Sokha, said Sam Rainsy and his entourages are behind CNRP dissolution five years ago.

Chatha’s statement came after Sam Rainsy accused Kem Sokha of the main reason of CNRP’s dissolution.

Chantha wrote on his Facebook on Thursday asking who is responsible for the dissolution of CNRP? Since 2 September 2017 until 20 January 2022, Kem Sokha has yet become a convict. The court is still investigating and trial is still ongoing. One can say Kem Sokha is the main reason of dissolution of CNRP after trial ended and Sokha were sentenced to imprisonment.

He added, “In fact, on 1 March 2021, Sam Rainsy and two other former CNRP vice presidents Mu Sochua and Eng Chhay Eang were sentenced to 25 years in prison for attempt to topple the legitimate Royal Government of Cambodia. Other six entourages, including Tioulong Saumura, Ho Vann, Men Sothavarin, Nuth Rumduol, Long Ry and Ou Chanrith, were sentenced to 20 years in prison.”

“According to the Ministry of Justice spokesperson, Sam Rainsy has been charged with 14 criminal cases, of which six cases have been tried and verdicts issued. Sam Rainsy faces more than 42 years in prison, excluding eight other criminal cases which are still ongoing.”

Chantha continued that Sam Rainsy is exercising his freedom overseas to act against Cambodian laws. His allegation of Kem Sokha being the main reason for CNRP dissolution is just the excuse to cover his own mistakes and avoid taking responsibilities.
