Phnom Penh (FN) Feb. 3 – Cambodian director general of General Department of Taxation (GDT) Kong Vibol said that the giant foreign companies such as Netflix and Facebook registered for Value Added Tax (VAT) with General Department of Taxation, effective from 1 April 2022.

The general director spoke in a special press conference on tax revenue on Thursday.

"Both companies requested to pay VAT to Cambodia but postpone their registrations for three months to prepare the documents," Kong Vibol said.

Vibol voiced support over the statement of Cambodian minister of telecom Chea Vandeth, stating that the internet gateway aims to generate the kingdom's revenue through tax collections; protect the national security; and solve other social issues.
