Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 11 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen delivered opening remarks as the co-chair of the World Summit 2022 under the theme “Peace on Korean Peninsula” on Friday in Seoul, the Republic of Korea.

“Cambodia and Mekong region can offer lessons on peace-making, peacebuilding, and national reconciliation. Win-wing policy in Cambodia for instance can be a source of inspiration and learning for other countries. We cannot use war to end war. We need peaceful dialogue and win-win negotiation to end war,” the premier underlined.

Premier Hun Sen recalled that in the early 1990s, Cambodia could not achieve the full peace even after the international community spent about USD 2 billion.

He said the kingdom’s full peace was achieved from the participations of all relevant parties in the country through the implementation of Win-win policy.

Samdech believed that negotiation is the solid approach and it took four years of negotiations to end the kingdom’s civil war.

1998 was the first time Cambodia experienced absolute peace and national unity over the last 500 years, the premier added.
