Phnom Penh (FN) Feb. 11 – South Korean National Assembly speaker Park Byeong-seung said that Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen is the main actor in Cambodia-Korea relations.

The national assembly speaker spoke during the working meeting with Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen on Friday in Seoul, South Korea.

"In this 25 years of the re-establishment of the diplomatic ties between the two countries, premier Hun Sen has played an important role in the process with his strong commitment and willingness,” Park Byeong-seung said.

Both leaders highlighted many achievements from the good relations between the two countries, such as boosting trade and investment flows, employment opportunities for Cambodian workers, as well as development assistance for Cambodia.

On the occasion, the premier thanked South-Korea for resuming direct flights with the kingdom despite the COVID19 pandemic, adding that it is very crucial for the two countries and also help Cambodian citizens who travel from Europe and the United States to travel to Cambodia.

Park Byeong-Seung also thanked premier Hun Sen for co-hosting the World Summit to seek peace on the Korean Peninsula. He also announced his support for Cambodia’s chairmanship of ASEAN Summit 2022 as well as Cambodia's efforts in resolving Myanmar crisis.

Lastly, premier Hun Sen invited Park Byeong-Seung to visit Cambodia in order to strengthen the cooperation between the two parliamentary institutions.
