Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 16 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen reacted to criticism saying that the premier paid money for the Sunhak Peace Prize, speaking at the inauguration for the official use of the seven bridges in Kratie and Prey Veng provinces on Wednesday.

“The chairman of the judging panel for the awardee is the former Portuguese prime minister and also the former European commissioner. Therefore, the decision is not from the organization [Universal Peace Federation] alone. The prize is not for sale, so why is there allegation on paying money for the prize?” the premier underlined.

On 12 February, the World Summit 2022 officially presented the 5th Sunhak Peace Prize Award to premier Hun Sen for his steadfast leadership over many years as the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, contributing to stability, economic development and peace in Cambodia and the Southeast Asian region at large.
