Phnom Penh (FN), Sep. 12 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen ordered the Phnom Penh Capital Administration to prepare public buses to transport citizens to their hometowns with free of charge in the upcoming Pchum Ben festival.

The premier spoke in a special voice message on Monday morning (Sep 12).

“I would like to urge all taxi owners not to increase fares during this public holiday, so the citizens are able to travel to their hometowns. The Phnom Penh Capital Administration shall review offer free transportation on Pchum Ben festival to provinces like we did in the past years,” the premier underlined.

The premier expressed his satisfaction with the effective control on COVID19 through vaccination campaign, which allows the kingdom to fully open socio-economic activities in all sectors. In particular, citizens are able to gather and enjoy their time during Kan Ben and Pchum Ben festival.

Despite the easing situation of COVID19, Samdech still called on the monks in the pagodas and citizens to further implement health measures to prevent the spread of COVID19.

According to the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, on the occasion of the upcoming Pchum Ben festival, all workers are allowed to take three days off from 24-26 September 2022.
