Paris (FN), Oct. 10 – The French court had ruled that premier Hun Sen is not a mastermind behind the death of former police chief Hok Lundy as accused by former opposition leader Sam Rainsy.

Premier Hun Sen’s lawyer Ky Tech told Fresh News CEO Lim Chea Vutha on Monday (Oct 10).

In the courtroom this morning, the judge gave reasons and perceptions that Sam Rainsy's accusations against premier Hun Sen are unsubstantiated, according to lawyer Ky Tech.

"The judge said Sam Rainsy submitted various documents that are vague and complex, which the court could not accept as clear evidences," Ky Tech said adding that “the court also confirmed that Sam Rainsy had indeed defamed prime minister Hun Sen.”

On 20 August 2019, premier Hun Sen and Dy Vichea filed a separate lawsuit to the French court against Sam Rainsy on "public defamation”. On 8 June 2020, the investigating judge has allegedly charged Sam Rainsy with public defamation.

In 2019, Sam Rainsy posted on his Facebook and spoke on US-backed radio VOA, baselessly accusing prime minister Hun Sen of (1) masterminding the killing of former national police chief Hok Lundy; 2) making lies on the cause of Hok Lundy’s death

Rainsy accused the premier of lying that Hok Lundy was killed by the lightning. Rainsy claimed that “the helicopter was blown up by a bomb planted on it and not due to lightning.”
