Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 3 – Suos Yara, chairman of the Cambodian National Assembly’s Commission on Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, Information and Media, said that Cambodia is a strong supporter of China’s regional and international initiatives.

Yara spoke at the webinar on assessing the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

“China’s vision of the [Community of Shared Future of Mankind] will contribute to building an open and inclusive multilateral system. Cambodia, as a small state, has been advocating for multilateralism and rules-based international order. Cambodia and China will continue to work closely on this front,” said Yara.

“China has played a critical role in regional integration and poverty reduction. The Belt and Road Initiative, Lancang-Mekong Cooperation, ASEAN-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, China’s Global Developing Initiative, and China’s Global Security Initiative are complementary to and compatible with ASEAN’s community building and regional connectivity,” he added.

“Cambodia is a strong supporter of China’s regional and international initiatives because we believe that the purposes and principles of China’s initiatives are in line with those of Cambodia and ASEAN,” Yara underscored.

On 31st October 2022, the Asian Vision Institute (AVI) organised a webinar on “Assessing the Outcomes of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC)” in an online format.
