Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 10 – Spain has not yet signed the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC), according Secretary of state at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Kung Phoak on Thursday (Nov 10).

"Regarding ASEAN's decision to make Spain as a High Contracting Parties to the TAC, we (ASEAN) are ready, but Spain is slow in their working process" Kung Phoak underscored.

"Due to the problem from Spanish counterpart, today (Nov 10) only Ukraine signed the TAC," Phoak continued.

Phoak wished Spain will involve in ASEAN by becoming the TAC member.

On 10 November 2022, the ASEAN foreign ministers and the ASEAN secretary-general witnessed the signing ceremony of the instrument of accession to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC) by Ukraine and Spain.

TAC was established in 1976 and embodies universal principles of peaceful coexistence and friendly cooperation among States in Southeast Asia. It is a legally-binding code for inter-state relations in the region and beyond.
