Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 19 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen has expressed his admiration and satisfaction for the achievements made in the relations and cooperation between Cambodia and South Korea during the mandate of the ambassador Park Heung-kyeong.

Outgoing South Korean ambassador to Cambodia Park Heung-kyeong paid a farewell call on Cambodian premier Hun Sen, held on Monday afternoon (Dec 19) at the Peace Palace.

The ambassador congratulated premier Hun Sen for successfully chairing the ASEAN Summit and related summits, as well as the ASEAN-EU Commemorative Summit.

The outgoing ambassador also expressed his deep gratitude to Samdech, civil servants as well as the people of Cambodia for providing good cooperation for the success of his diplomatic mission in Cambodia.

During his diplomatic mission in Cambodia, Park Heung-kyeong has achieved great work for the country and the people of Cambodia and South Korea. In particular, he facilitated the organization of the premier’s visit to Korea and the visit of the President of Korea to Cambodia. In addition, he also facilitated a free trade agreement, an agreement on a double tax avoidance, and an agreement to build a Cambodia-Korea friendship bridge. These achievements are an important part of enhancing relations and cooperation between Cambodia and South Korea.

Premier Hun Sen thanked the ambassador and the Government of Korea for supporting Cambodia's ASEAN chairmanship. The premier also expressed his pleasure at the great achievements that resulted from good relations and good cooperation between Cambodia and Korea.

Samdech underlined that the Cambodia-Korea Friendship Bridge, which will be built to connect Phnom Penh and Kandal Province, is a message of good relations between Cambodia and South Korea.

Premier Hun Sen also wished Park Heung-kyeong success in his future endeavors.

Park Heung-kyeong worked in Cambodia since 2019. In his tenure, he has contributed to fostering Cambodia-South Korea and ASEAN-South Korea relations.
