Kompot (FN), Dec. 30 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen said that the Cambodia-China trade volume in 2022 reached USD 14.5 billion, an increase of 19 percent.

The premier spoke at the groundbreaking for the reconstruction and upgrading of National Road No. 31 and No. 33, held at Kampot on Friday (Dec 30).

"This year, the trade volume between the two countries reached USD 14.5 billion, an increase of 19 percent. In the future, I believe that we will be able to export more products to the Chinese market through the Cambodia-China Free Trade Agreement (CCFTA). With this agreement, China favors 97.5 percent of Cambodia's exports, which is the highest level of free trade agreement between China and other countries," the premier underscored.

In general, Cambodia exports various products to China such as garments, shoes, leather, machinery, rice, rubber, bananas, cassava, cashew nuts, foot wear, suitcases, and more.

On the other hand, Cambodia imports various products in support of investment and production such as cotton, textiles, metal, construction materials, appliances and electronics, plastics, aluminum, furniture and paper and cardboard.

Cambodia-China Free Trade Agreement entered into force in January 2022, in line with the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (RCEP). The Cambodia-Korea Free Trade Agreement also entered into force in early December 2022.
