Kampot (FN), Dec. 30 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen said that the Royal Government will keep remunerating salary through banking system, speaking at the groundbreaking for the reconstruction and upgrading of National Road No. 31 and No. 33, held at Kampot on Friday (Dec 30).

The premier’s remark was made in response to a request of president of the Royal Academy of Cambodia (RAC) Sok Touch to switch from paying salary through banks to paying in cash.

"I will not do as he [Sok Touch] requested because this is a digital era,” the premier added.

Paying salaries through banks allowed the Royal Government to avoid frauds, the premier added.

“Such option is also a great achievement and reform of the country.”

Samdech continued, paying salaries in cash is not safe as it requires transporting money from the treasury to their defined locations in provinces, districts and units, and needs more time.

On that occasion, premier Hun Sen also instructed Sok Touch to strengthen the management of its officials in the RAC and not to demand the government to pay salaries in cash.
