Kampot (FN), Dec. 30 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen unveiled four main unique features of Kampot province, speaking at the groundbreaking for the reconstruction and upgrading of National Road No. 31 and No. 33, held at Kampot on Friday (Dec 30).

The features include a heavy industrial location that supplies construction material; supplier of electricity; a major source of salt; and a major tourist attraction, which are essential for travel and transportation.

“Investing in Kampot is a wise decision,” the premier underlined.

Kampot has four large factories that produce about seven million tons of cement, said the premier. "Cement in Cambodia is in high demand, which requires additional production investment.”

Kampot also has a hydropower plant that can generate about 193 megawatts of electricity, which supplies electricity to Phnom Penh and other places, he added.

Samdech continued, Kampot and Kep provinces are popular for tourists, which has contributed to the economic growth.

One country cannot build its economy and reduce the hardship of the people if there is physical infrastructure, the premier added.
