Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 2 – Candlelight Party supreme advisor Kong Korm thanked Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen for not filing a lawsuit against him regarding his residence, and announced resigning from supreme advisor of the Candlelight Party.

Kong Korm wrote in his letter addressed to premier Hun Sen dated 31 January 2023.

"I, Kong Korm and my wife, thank you Samdech for not filing a lawsuit against me,” wrote Korm. "I would like to acknowledge and apologize to Samdech and the leaders of the Cambodian People's Party who feel that my past gestures and actions affected the honor and dignity as well as the peace of the society.”

Korm continued, “after examining the past and considering the new world order and the geopolitical context and Cambodian politics, which is paying attention to the next generation politicians, I, Kong Korm, decided to end my role as the supreme advisor of the Candlelight Party from now on. ”
