Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 23 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen continued to urge national institutions to continue to transfer power to the grassroots level, including financial affairs and the appointment procedures of government officials.

The premier spoke at the annual meeting of the Ministry of Interior on Thursday afternoon (Feb. 23) at Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel.

On that occasion, the premier also praised the management of the grassroots level, especially during the COVID19 outbreak. They have successfully fulfilled their obligations, including responding to natural disaster.

The appeal came after Samdech instructed the Ministry of Interior and the National Committee for Sub-National Democratic Development to continue their efforts to accelerate the decentralization and deconcentration reform process in order to achieve the set goals, including reviewing the policies, legal frameworks, mechanisms, measures and regulations that have been put in place in the past to improve in line with the progress of this reform and to enhance the capacity of the sub-national administrative capacity to deliver public services and promote economic development at the local level.
