Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 1 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen asked the minister of agriculture, forestry and fisheries and relevant institutions to consider law amendments by allowing citizens to adopt rare wildlife and some endangered species, speaking Wednesday morning (Mar 1).

"Regarding the peacock issue, now, I asked for an urgent amendment on the relevant legal issues to make changes from restrictions to incentives. The citizens can adopt those rare wildlife animals and can release them in the forest," the premier underscored.

On 28 February 2023, Samdech issued an urgent order to competent officers to return the seized peacocks to the owner in Boribo district, Kampong Chhnang province.
