Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 16 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen supported the statement of the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports to gather students in both public and private educational institutions to play Khmer popular games and dances ahead and during Khmer New Year celebrations.
The premier spoke at the graduation of more than 4,000 students of Build Bright University, held on Thursday (Mar 16) at Diamond Island Convention and Exhibition Center.
"Promoting [Khmer] dances and popular games during Khmer New Year is good for our traditional culture," the premier underscored.
At this point, the premier mentioned that in the globalization era, traditions and customs would easily disappear if we pay less attention.
On 15 March 2023, the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports issued a statement calling on both public and private educational institutions to gather students to play Khmer popular games and dances in preparation for the upcoming Khmer New Year. At the same time, the ministry forbids splashing water and powder.
