Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 16 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen prayed for powerful spirits (boramey) to punish those who distorted the information and accused the Royal Government and the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) of setting fire to the Royal Palace in Siem Reap province.
The premier spoke at the graduation of more than 4,000 students of Build Bright University, held on Thursday (Mar. 16) at Diamond Island Convention and Exhibition Center.
“I pray Preah Ang Chek, Preah Ang Chorm (a famous shrine in Siem Reap province) to punish those who have accused the CPP of setting fire to the Siem Reap’s Royal Residence,” he said.
Samdech also called on authorities at all levels to pay close attention to fire incidents.
Samdech also allowed immediate renovation of the Royal Palace at the request of the minister of the Royal Place.
On 13 March 2023, Ministry of the Royal Palace issued a statement confirming that the fire broke out in a small building of the Royal Palace of Siem Reap was caused by electric shock.
