Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 24 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen instructed stakeholders to further promote the pure seed production of Pka Romdoul variety in order to support a better rice production chain, speaking at the closing of an annual meeting of the Ministry of Agriculture Forestry and Fisheries, held on Friday (Mar. 24) at the ministry.

The premier also announced to provide 100 units of rice transplanters to the Ministry of Agriculture to support the production of pure seeds.

"We must highly encourage pure seed production of this variety [Pka Romdoul], so that it will be widely used by our people. The seed will not only supply domestically, but also export to overseas,” the premier added.

In the past, the Ministry of Agriculture and the private sector planned to produce high quality and marketable rice varieties to supply farmers across the country to help them get better yields, both in quality and quantity, as well as higher profits.
