Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 27 – Malaysian prime minister Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim arrived in Cambodia at 9 am on Monday (Mar. 27) for a one-day official visit at the invitation of Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen.

Anwar’s arrival at the airport was warmly welcomed by Cambodian officials, led by senior minister in charge of special missions Osman Hassan.

Dato' Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim will be granted a Royal Audience by Cambodian king Norodom Sihamoni, at the Royal Palace. He will also have separate courtesy calls on president of the Senate Say Chhum, and president of the National Assembly Heng Samrin, according to a press release dated 24 March 2023.

Malaysian prime minister Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim and Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen will meet bilaterally to explore new ways and means to further deepen the long-standing bilateral ties that cover all fields of cooperation ranging from political-security, economic to socio-cultural aspects. They will exchange views on sub-regional, regional and international issues of common interest and concern. Subsequently, there will be a signing ceremony of some cooperation initiatives and a joint press conference.

Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim will join Samdech for the Iftar dinner, and will participate in the Isya' and Terawikh Prayer with Muslim scholars and the Muslim community in Cambodia.

The forthcoming official visit of the prime minister of Malaysia to Cambodia will lend a new impetus to the robust all-round bilateral ties between the two countries and will contribute to the maintenance of peace and stability in the region as well as to the continued development and prosperity of the ASEAN Community and beyond.
