Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 27 – On 22 March 2022, Ureerat Chareontoh, director general of Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on behalf of the Royal Thai Government, handed over the extended and renovated Emergency Services for Poipet Referral Hospital and an ambulance for Mongkon Buri Hospital, Banteay Meanchey Province, to Chhum Vannarith, under secretary of state, Ministry of Health of Cambodia, in a ceremony held at Poipet Referral Hospital, Banteay Meanchey Province, the Kingdom of Cambodia. The extension and renovation of the Emergency Services for the Poipet Referral Hospital, implemented by Health Administration Division, Office of Permanent Secreatry, Ministry of Public Health, and Sa Kaeo Provincial Health Office, is a part of activities under the Thai - Cambodian Development Cooperation Programme in Health Sector, Phrase 2 (2022 – 2024).

Chawwanate Yimprasert, deputy governor of Sa Kaeo Province, also attended the ceremony along with Prak Poly, deputy governor of Banteay Meanchey Province, Itthipon Udtamapanya, deputy chief of Sa Kaeo Provincial Health Office, and Le Chansangvat, chief of Banteay Meanchey Provincial Health Office.

In addition to the extension and renovation of the Emergency Services at the Poipet Referral Hospital and the ambulance, the Royal Thai Government also provided one Manually Flipping Bed with Doctor N medigel Mattress which is an innovative product developed by Thai researchers from the Faculty of Medicine, Prince of Songkla University, and funded by Thailand Science Research and Innovation (TSRI) in collboration with Krungthep Kuruphan Vejchaphan Co.,Ltd., along with N-Dro care mouth sprays supported from Lilly Pharma Co., Ltd. as a part of coordinated efforts between Thai public and private sectors under Public Private Partnership for the People (PPPP).

The extension and renovation of the Emergencies Services at the Poipet Referral Hospital and the support of the ambulance, medical equipment and medicine symbolise the close cooperation between the two countries to establish a systematic and efficient patient referral system between Thai-Cambodian border provinces in order for the peoples along the border provinces to have access to prompt medical services when needed.
