Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 31 – Cambodian foreign minister Prak Sokhonn led a Cambodian delegation to pay an official visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt from 29-30 March 2023 at the invitation of Egyptian foreign minister Sameh Shoukry.

"In order to respond to the growing ties, Sameh Shoukry informed Prak Sokhonn that Egypt would consider opening its Embassy in Phnom Penh," according to the outcomes seen by Fresh News on Friday (Mar 31).

During the bilateral talks held on 30 March, Prak Sokhonn and Sameh Shoukry highly appreciated the development in the long standing relations of freindship and cooperation, which were built by Cambodia's Late King Father Norodom Sihanouk and Egypt's Late president Gamal Abdel Nasser, who were among the founding members of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).

The two foreign ministers underlined the meaning of the visit that coincided with the 70th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Arab Republic of Egypt and discussed the opportunities to further strengthen and broaden cooperation in various fields.

Both foreign ministers shared the views to consider establishing bilateral consultations between both Ministries of Foreign Affairs as a mechanism to explore ways and means to advance and strengthen ties in all fields. In this connection, both ministers agreed to push for the signing in the near future of an MoU on this purpose.
