Phnom Penh (FN), Apr. 3 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen expressed his support for Malaysian prime minister Anwar Ibrahim’s recent statement that the foreign superpowers shall not interfere in others’ internal affairs, and that the premier considered Anwar a good partner in ASEAN.

The premier spoke at the inauguration of Krouch Chhmar District Referral Hospital, held on Monday (Apr. 3) in Tbong Khmum Province.

"A few days ago, prime minister Anwar Ibrahim announced that the great power shall not interfere in other countries’ internal affairs. I supported his statement and now I have another good partner in ASEAN,” the premier underlined.

On that occasion, Samdech recalled that in the past, some superpowers came to teach Cambodia for democracy and the separation of powers for the three branches, but later they intervened in the kingdom’s judiciary.

“Cambodia's job is for Cambodia to maintain its independence and build a comprehensive partnership with all countries. Cambodia do not make enemies with anyone,” the premier added.

Speaking at a forum hosted by Beijing's Tsinghua University last weekend, Anwar Ibrahim said Malaysia would not allow any superpower to dictate its decisions or future direction.
