PM Hun Sen Shares Five Recommendations to Accelerate SMEs Development and Improve Business Climate (Video inside)

Phnom Penh (FN), Apr. 10 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen shared five recommendations, which contributed to accelerating the development of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and improving the business climate, speaking on Monday (Apr 10).

The five recommendations are as follows:

1. Encourage SMEs and handicrafts in Cambodia to enhance their capacity and competitiveness and encourage relevant ministries and institutions to respond promptly to challenges and reduce production costs to boost Cambodia's productivity and competitiveness.

2. The Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation shall cooperate with the Ministry of Commerce, the Federation of Associations for Small and Medium Enterprises, and the Samdech Techo Foundation Association to improve training programs in order to enhance the capacity building of new entrepreneurs, businessmen, and SMEs and handicrafts to increase the efficiency and resilience.

3. The Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation shall cooperate with the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, the Federation of Associations for Small and Medium Enterprises, and the Samdech Techo Foundation Association to conduct the evaluation assessment on the skill requirements and address the lack of skills that SMEs have been experiencing.

4. The Ministry of Commerce shall coordinate the establishment of an inter-ministerial technical working group to promote trade facilitation to reduce trade costs and promote Cambodia's exports, especially agro-industrial products, to Free Trade Agreements' partners as well as promote the domestic market.

5. All relevant ministries and institutions, including sub-national administrations, shall cooperate with the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications to accelerate the digital revolution in their respective ministries and institutions in order to increase the efficiency of providing public services to businesses, investors, and the public, as well as contribute to the promotion of digital economic and social development and digital government policies.
