Phnom Penh (FN), Apr. 12 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen highly commended smooth operation of the Conference on Education and its achievements in education, youth development, physical education and sports over the past 10 years through the implementation of a series of reforms.

The premier spoke at the closing of the Conference on Education, Youth and Sports, held on Wednesday (Apr 12) at the Institute of Technology of Cambodia, Phnom Penh.

At the same time, the premier added the progress achieved in the past academic year, as well as the eight priorities set for the future work direction in line with the new context of both regional and global socio-economic development, especially while Cambodia is maintaining complete peace, political stability and macroeconomic stability, as well as responding to the 2030-2050 vision of Cambodia.

Samdech continued, the achievements reflected the efforts and close cooperation of leaders, stakeholders, teachers, parents, communities and local authorities in the development of education in accordance with their respective roles and high responsibilities.

"I would like to thank and appreciate the development partners of national and international organizations and relevant institutions who have cooperated and provided logistic, fund and technical support,” the premier added.

On that occasion, Samdech also supported the reform program, measures and priorities set by the conference based on current achievements and new opportunities, and set clear and realistic reform directions with specific goals as well as a clear leadership structure and implementation mechanism to build human capital with potential knowledge, skills and attitudes for the development of the nation.

Premier Hun Sen underlined that the Royal Government continued to prioritize teacher recruitment and training includes mobilizing and providing additional resources for the capacity development of teachers, implementing school reforms, promoting 21st century skills among youth, providing science and technology education, promoting digital education, reform of school of pedagogy, health education, and establishing new higher education institutions as centers for excellence.
