Phnom Penh (FN), Apr. 24 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen said that the Royal Government decided to increase the budget by USD 7 million for food and accommodation for the athletes and sporting delegation attending the 2023 SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games.

The premier spoke on Monday morning (Apr 24) at the inauguration ceremony of new temple of Preah Barami Vong Borey Pagoda.

"We will spend an additional USD 7 million to feed both Cambodian and foreign athletes who come to participate in the games in Cambodia. Generally, they will be charged USD 50 per day," the premier underscored.

In this regard, Samdech added that this initiative could have an impact on the next host country, meaning that they will be likely to implement such initiative for Cambodia as well.

The 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia will take place from 5-17 May 2023. The 12th ASEAN Para Games in Cambodia will begin from 3-9 June 2023.
