Phnom Penh (FN), May 7 – More than 130 students successfully completed their bachelor's and master's degrees from the American University of Phnom Penh (AUPP), the top university in Cambodia offering dual degree programs.

The graduation ceremony was held on 6 May 2023 for undergraduate and graduate students, who pursued single and dual degree programs in various majors such as architecture, business, engineering, civil engineering, global affairs, management, information technology, and law.

The graduation ceremony was presided over by former president of Timor-Leste Kay Rala Xanana Gusmao, Cambodian minister of posts and Telecommunications Chea Vandeth, and more than 600 participants.

Raymond Leos, AUPP’s associate vice president of Academic and Student Affairs, said that graduated students need to develop themselves are "creativity and innovation".

"Innovation refers to the creation of new computer applications, the development of new mobile applications, the creation of new businesses, the creation of new markets strategy for products or services, the provision of new ways to solve problems, or the provision of new ways to create and Sharing progress… It can help us create a better world for ourselves and others," Leos continued.

Leos added that he is confident that current graduates are prepared and ready to meet the challenges of creativity and innovation that are part of adapting and thriving in our rapidly changing global environment.

In addition, AUPP also awarded an Honorary Degree of Humane Letters to Xanana Gusmao.

Xanana Gusmao liberated the people of East Timor and sought reconciliation with Indonesia, and sought a peaceful solution to the international conflict for independence. After gaining independence, he became the first elected president of East Timor, serving from 2002 to 2007, and later became the prime minister from 2007 to 2015.

On that occasion, Raymond Leos praised Xanana Gusmao's lifelong efforts to liberate the people of East Timor and inspire citizens to maintain peace after gaining independence.

AUPP partners with the University of Arizona and Fort Hays State University, and so far, more than 400 students have graduated from AUPP.

Many graduates have made good progress in the top ministries and companies in the country, while many more have been pursuing studies at the world's top universities, such as Stanford University, the University of Melbourne, the University of Ohio, and the National University of Singapore. Meanwhile, AUPP have been receiving applications from many international students from Asia, the United States, and Europe.

AUPP offers undergraduate and graduate programs in Information Technology Management, Information Communication Technology (ICT), Software Development,Cyber Security, Cloud Computing, Law, Business, and Global Affairs.
