Phnom Penh (FN), May 24 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen advised the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, the Ministry of Cults and Religions, and relevant parties to jointly preserve the original forms of Cambodian culture.

The premier spoke at an inauguration ceremony of a new location of the Royal University of Fine Arts, held on Wednesday morning (May 24) in Phnom Penh.

Every performance preparation and art formation must follow the original forms of their respective era to avoid misleading the next generation, the premier added.

“In the next 100 years or 50 years, the next generation who succeeds us might not follow the original forms. Therefore, I urge caution, especially in the construction of Buddha statues and other statues,” the premier underscored.

On that occasion, Samdech added that he does not believe in cultural change of one nation due to cultural aggression made by other nations, but what is worrying is the willingness to accept foreign cultures of the natives.
