Sihanoukville (FN), Nov. 7 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Manet said in order to attract tourism and investment in Sihanoukville, it is necessary to establish direct flights with other well-known tourist destinations in the region, and strengthen security and safety for both national and international tourists.
The premier spoke on Tuesday morning (Nov. 7) during his meeting with more than 15,000 workers in Prey Nob district, Preah Sihanouk province.
"Strengthening security and order is crucial in both Sihanoukville and nationwide, especially in the tourism and industrial areas. No one wants to visit the sea if they were told to be careful as there will be gun shooting or robbery [...] the security must be guaranteed for both national and international tourists. The armed forces and relevant parties at all levels shall jointly cooperate to ensure safety for the citizens," the premier underscored.
"The establishment of direct flights to Sihanoukville is also crucial. We need to figure out how to connect more flights from Sihanoukville to other tourist destinations," Samdech Thipadei continued.
Premier Hun Manet mentioned that with peace, the geography in Sihanoukville has great potential for promoting economic growth like the raw diamonds that require to be processed.
Samdech Thipadei added the Royal Government put efforts to attract investment to build infrastructure such as water, land, air transport, and strengthen security in Sihanoukville for the benefit of the citizens to create jobs as well as to promote economic activities and improve citizens' livelihoods.
