Siem Reap (FN), Nov. 16 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet stated that the first ever E-Arrival passenger control system will be launched at Siem Reap Angkor International Airport (SAI) in early 2024.
The premier spoke on Thursday (Nov. 16) during an inauguration for SAI official launch in Siem Reap province.
"I am pleased to announce that the General Department of Immigration of Cambodia has initiated a new project focused on e-arrival system to facilitate customs and immigration processes, with a dual focus on simplification and a transition from paper-based to electronic documentation. This innovation will enhance the traveler experience by eliminating the need for traditional forms. The project, estimated to be completed by the end of 2023, will undergo a pilot test at Siem Reap Angkor International Airport in 2024,” Samdech Thipadei underlined.
On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei also instructed the Siem Reap provincial authorities to tighten security measures and public order surrounding the new airport. In addition, the Royal Government will explore the possibility of establishing direct flights to key tourist destinations in other countries and expanding the utilization of border pass.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet stated that the launch of the airport and the launch of the "Visit Siem Reap 2024" strategy is to revitalize tourism in Siem Reap. SAI is poised to be a crucial asset and a significant catalyst for tourism in Siem Reap, as well as tourism and the economy on a national scale.
