Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 19 – Cambodian Delegate Minister Jean François Tan underlined that in these past six months, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet has achieved great success in the diplomacy sector in adapting to the international arena through active diplomacy that expands new friendships and strengthens old ones, and through the practice of economic diplomacy for the benefit of the Cambodian citizens.

Jean François Tan spoke on Monday (Feb. 19) during the press conference to present the achievements of the Royal Government in the new mandate over the past six months under the leadership of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet at the Office of the Council of Ministers.

According to the delegate minister, in these past six months, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet attended and paid official visits to multiple summits and meetings in various countries such as the 43rd ASEAN Summit and related Summits in Jakarta, Indonesia from 4-7 September 2023, paid an official visit to China and participated in the ASEAN-China Expo from 14-17 September 2023, attend the 78th United Nations General Assembly in New York, USA from 21-23 September 2023, participated in the 3rd Belt and Road Forum in Beijing, China, and then attend the ASEAN- Gulf Cooperation Council in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from 16-21 October 2023, paid official visit to Vietnam, attended the 50th ASEAN-Japan Commemorative Summit in Tokyo, Japan from 15-19 December 2023, attended the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland from 15-17 January 2024, paid official visit to France on 18-19 January 2024 and paid an official visit to Thailand on 7 February 2024.

Since taking office, Samdech Thipadei met bilaterally with many foreign presidents namely Chinese President Xi Jinping, Indonesian President Joko Widodo, Vietnamese President Vo Van Thuong, Laotian President Thongloun Sisoulith, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol, Timorese President José Ramos-Horta, French President Emmanuel Macron, and Thai King Maha Vaijiralongkorn.

In addition, Samdech Thipadei also met with foreign prime ministers such as Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Laotian Prime Minister Phankham Viphavanh, French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal, and Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin. Furthermore, the premier also met with the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Deputy Prime Ministers, Ministers, Presidents of the Senate, Presidents of the National Assembly, and General Ambassadors such as EU, US, British, Indian, and Russian.

During the press conference, Jean François Tan added that Premier Hun Manet's active diplomatic policy aimed to promote bilateral relations, and also paid close attention to economic diplomacy.

He also pointed out that all bilateral meetings between foreign leaders, all business forums attended by Samdech Thipadei, and all meetings with the private sector were opportunities for Premier Hun Manet to persuade businessmen and foreign investors to increase capital investment to invest in Cambodia.

On the occasion, the delegate minister also noted that the success of Samdech Thipadei on the international stage is achieved due to many personal qualifications. First is a broad academic knowledge. Second is a clear ability as Samdech Thipadei has shown a good grasp and detail of macro cases, such as geopolitical competition, global economic issues and micro-issues, which consisted of bilateral relations in all fields between Cambodia and neighbouring countries or between Cambodia and countries in the region or between Cambodia and other countries in the world. Third is the knowledge and leadership, and a gentle-but-serious personality.
