Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 20 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet highly appreciated the achievements of the National Authority for Combating Drugs (NACD) in 2023 and thanked the leadership of the sixth-mandate Royal Government, led by Samdech Techo Hun Sen, who has spearheaded and directed the fight against drugs in the past.

The premier spoke on Tuesday (Feb. 20) at the 2023 annual meeting of the NACD at Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet also expressed gratitude to Sar Kheng and Ke Kim Yan, along with other leaders, for leading the implementation of the eighth anti-drug campaign, which has yielded proud results.

Samdech Thipadei underscored, "Based on the report from Neth Savoeun, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the NACD, I would like to commend the achievements of the NACD in 2023. I would also like to express my gratitude to the leaders of the sixth-mandate Royal Government, particularly Samdech Techo Hun Sen, for guiding and directing the fight against drugs in the past."

In addition, the premier extended appreciation to the leaders and civil servants of the Armed Forces at all levels of ministries, institutions, sub-national administrations, national and international civil society organizations, religious institutions, the private sector, and all donors. He acknowledged their participation and diligent efforts in fulfilling their duties and responsibilities with a strong sense of commitment in combating illegal drugs, resulting in numerous proud achievements in 2023.

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei also added that one of the most significant achievements, stating that Cambodia has been removed from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) grey list in the fight against money laundering related to drug crimes.
