We must also enhance salt production, recognized by the Royal Government as a strategic commodity, in tandem with measures to address non-viable salt field."

On the occasion, Premier Hun Manet instructed various ministries, sub-national administrative bodies, and stakeholders to collaborate with the Ministry of Industry regarding the Water Management Law. This collaboration aims to ensure the provision of clean water that meets four fundamental criteria including quality, safety, sustainability, and affordability.

Samdech Thipadei urged the Ministry of Industry to extend the reach of piped water supply to both urban and rural areas. He underlined the need to bolster investments in large and medium-scale water production facilities to support regions grappling with water resource scarcity and financial constraints.

At the same time, Samdech Thipadei instructed the Ministry to exercise strict yet considerate control over water pricing policies. He underscored the importance of maintaining harmony between producers and consumers while prioritizing accessibility for the impoverished, including workers and students residing in rented accommodations.

The premier encouraged the establishment of water regulatory bodies to enhance oversight and licensing processes. He also underlined the urgency of expediting the formulation of sub-decrees governing the organization and operation of the Water Sector Development Fund. These measures aim to enhance the capacity to supply clean water, particularly in underserved areas.
