Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 11 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet stated that Cambodia’s participation with other ASEAN member countries in promoting the ASEAN Digital Economy Framework Agreement aimed to increase the size of the ASEAN digital economy from USD 1 trillion to USD 2 trillion by 2030.

The premier spoke on Monday (Mar. 11) during the opening ceremony of Digital Government Forum and Digital Technology Expo at Diamond Island Convention and Exhibition Centre.

At the same time, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet underlined that the Royal Government has been implementing the digital policy agenda with a proactive and open spirit to achieve the national digital development goals, as well as the regional and global digital development goals outlined in the ASEAN Digital Master Plan 2025 and the UNDP Digital Strategy for 2022-2025.

Samdech Thipadei underscored, "Cambodia is actively participating with ASEAN member countries in promoting the ASEAN Digital Economy Framework Agreement, aiming to double the size of the ASEAN digital economy from USD 1 trillion to USD 2 trillion."

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei highly appreciated the organisation of this three-day important forum to celebrate past achievements and collectively create new ones through discussion, idea exchange, sharing experiences and best practices, forming initiatives and collaborations, and promoting the development of new digital public services. This collective effort is crucial in addressing the escalating needs of the people of Cambodia and ASEAN as they progress toward a fully digital economy and society.

Premier Hun Manet added that the digital revolution aims to capture and maximise the benefits of advances in information and communication technology and digital technology to increase productivity and economic efficiency, boost national economic growth, and build a civilised society. Citizens can benefit from the use of environmentally friendly, reliable, and highly secure digital services while preserving their national identity and culture.
