Kandal (FN), Mar. 12 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet said that the Techo International Airport stands as a symbol of Cambodia's progress, a testament to the nation's achievements made possible by the prevailing peace in the region. Without peace, building a USD 1.5 billion airport is unnecessary.

The premier spoke on Tuesday morning (Mar. 12) during the inspection of the construction of Techo International Airport in Kandal Province.

" The achievements, embodied by the inauguration of the Techo International Airport, signify the remarkable progress of the country. This site is a testament to the transformation of a nation once ravaged by war. In the 1970s, it served as a departure point for citizens seeking refuge abroad,” the premier underlined.

Samdech Thipadei continued, “However, in the wake of Cambodia's development, the construction of this airport became a reality, primarily attributed to the enduring peace. The USD 1.5 billion investment in this infrastructure underscores the indispensable role of peace, as without it, such a monumental project would lack a compelling rationale, dissuading any corporate venture into the endeavour.”

According to the premier, the Royal Government has an infrastructure investment plan for the Third Ring Road, National Road No. 1, and National Road No. 2, and plans to invest in a river-to-sea waterway project near the Techo International Airport.
