Kandal (FN), Mar. 12 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet said that the construction of Techo International Airport has contributed to boosting the economy and taxation, generating employment, and supporting tourism growth.

The premier spoke on Tuesday morning (Mar. 12) during the inspection of the construction of Techo International Airport in Kandal Province.

"The airport stands not merely as a symbolic gesture of progress, but as a tangible commitment to practical purposes beyond image-building. It will actively generate direct employment opportunities for local citizens, making a substantial contribution to national economic growth through diverse tax contributions," the premier underscored.

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei continued that Techo International Airport will definitely support tourism growth. The old airport accommodates 5.6 million passengers, whereas the new airport boasts a runway exceeding 4 kilometers in length, enabling direct landings for large planes from the United States and Europe.

Additionally, Techo International Airport is poised to address the escalating demand from international tourists, anticipated to surge from 10 million to 20 million and eventually reaching 50 million in Cambodia. This expansion will not only cater to incoming travellers but also streamline outbound travel for local citizens.

Lastly, Samdech Thipadei added that the construction of roads linking numerous tourist destinations not only enhances the convenience of travel for tourists but also significantly contributes to the local economy, benefiting both citizens and communities.
