Kandal (FN), Mar. 12 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet reminisced about the visit of the Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, who travelled to Cambodia in 1987 as as tourist, speaking on Tuesday morning (Mar. 12) during the inspection of the construction of Techo International Airport in Kandal Province.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet recalled his meeting with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, during which Albanese shared his experience of visiting Cambodia's Angkor Wat in 1987. He described how, despite the absence of crowds at the temple, they could hear the sound of gunfire nearby.

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei continued that Anthony Albanese mentioned feeling scared during the incident. However, the individual who accompanied him to visit Angkor Wat remained unperturbed, considering the sound to be normal due to its proximity to Angkor Wat, where the shooting occurred.

At the same time, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet also underlined that the enduring peace in Cambodia is a collective achievement that all must strive to maintain.
