Kandal (FN), Mar. 13 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet stated that undermining trust in the healthcare system and doctors is a perilous action that harms the nation's collective welfare, speaking on Wednesday (Mar. 13) during an inauguration ceremony of Techo Sen Koh Thom Hospital, Kandal Province.

Samdech Thipadei urged the public to maintain trust in Cambodian doctors, advising that it is prudent to seek confirmation from two or three doctors regarding their medical condition. He cited a specific case involving a doctor from Voluntary Youth Doctor Association (TYDA) who diagnosed a Cambodian individual with cancer. Despite this diagnosis, when the individual sought medical attention in Thailand and later in France, no cancer was detected. This practical example underscores the importance of trust in medical professionals and the need for thorough medical evaluation.

Samdech Thipadei underlined, "Do not let isolated cases of misdiagnosis, whether from public or private doctors, erode trust in our healthcare system and medical professionals. Such incidents should not undermine the faith in our doctors, as they have successfully treated tens of millions of people over the years, including during the COVID19 pandemic. Trust in our country's medical capabilities is essential. I urge our doctors to continue prioritising ethical practices, advancing their careers, honing their skills, and embracing their responsibilities."

On the occasion, the premier underlined that the primary desires of the people are good health and longevity, in which the Cambodian healthcare sector is dedicated to achieving.

Samdech Thipadei also encouraged individuals to prioritise their health, even with access to quality hospitals and National Social Security Fund card.
