Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 19 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet regarded the training of human resources in health sector as an essential task, necessitating clear training standards.

The premier spoke on Tuesday (Mar. 19) during the closing 2023 annual meeting of the Ministry of Health at Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra.

On that occasion, Samdech Thipadei underscored that “the development of human resources to serve in the health sector requires state institutions (including the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health) to consider the recruitment and retention of health workers, which includes training.”

Samdech Thipadei further underlined that out-of-school training partly originates from public schools. Even graduates from institutions like the University of Health Sciences or the International University have the opportunity to serve the government through the same recruitment system. Therefore, this training must prioritise the quality of education, focusing on medical knowledge and maintaining strict discipline.

Samdech Thipadei urged medical students to take proper exam as examinations are essential for equipping students with the necessary skills when they serve as healthcare providers in hospitals. Doctors must be clear and proficient to ensure the quality of care.

At the same time, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet also stated that training must adhere to clear standards in schools, ensuring that adequate equipment is available for practical application. Learning medicine entails not only theoretical understanding but also clear and practical implementation.
