Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 23 – President of the National Assembly of Thailand Wan Muhamad Noor Matha lauded Cambodia's development progress during pre-and post-COVID19 outbreak.

The Thai President of the National Assembly spoke during a courtesy called on Cambodian Acting Head of State Say Chhum on Friday (Mar. 22) at the Senate.

On that occasion, President Wan Muhamad Noor Matha noted the Cambodia-Thailand investment had been steadily increasing, and the relations and cooperation also improved in every sector. He continued that the two countries 'National Assembly have a good friendship, relations, and cooperation. The Thai president of the National Assembly also called on the two countries' legislatures to further strengthen ties and cooperation for the common benefits of the two peoples.

For his part, the acting head of state regarded the visit of the delegation to Cambodia as contributing to the maintenance of deepening the traditional friendship, solidarity, and cooperation between the people and the two countries in order to bring mutual benefits for the present and future.

In addition, Say Chhum mentioned that the two countries have maintained good relations and elevated relations to a "strategic partnership" to serve the mutual benefit of the two peoples. Both countries adopt constitutional monarchies that have the king, cultural traditions, bordering and sharing the same Mekong River waters.

Samdech Say Chhum underscored that 2025 marks the 75th anniversary of establishing Cambodia-Thailand diplomatic relations. Samdech congratulated the two countries' prime ministers for jointly hosting various programs to celebrate the anniversaries of the two countries. At the same time, he wished the Thai Royal Government success in hosting the 33rd SEA Games in 2025.

Taking this occasion, Samdech Say Chhum expressed his deep gratitude to Thai Princess Sirindhorn for her generosity in helping to establish the Kampong Chheu Teal and Kampong Speu Institute of Technology and offering ongoing scholarships to more than 3,000 Cambodian students enrolled in undergraduate, graduate, and higher education level.

The acting head of state congratulated the two Royal Governments and supported the initiative of "Two Kingdoms, One Destination" and urged the provincial authorities of the two countries to continue to facilitate cross-border travel between the two countries and tourists from third countries. In addition, promoting maritime tourism between the two countries. He praised and supported the initiative of the Thai Prime Minister "Five Countries One Destination", including Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Viet Nam and Malaysia, to promote tourism and people-to-people ties.

He also thanked the Royal Government of Thailand for facilitating the procedures for Cambodian workers living and working in Thailand by reducing the price of workers' visas and visa extension fees from 2023 to 2027 and helping train Thai language and vocational training for Cambodian workers. Samdech is confident that the Royal Government of Thailand will continue to care for Cambodian workers living and working in Thailand.

The acting head of state expressed his satisfaction with the progress of the two countries' legislative cooperation reflected in the visit, as well as international cooperation such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), AIPA, the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum, and the Asia-Europe Parliamentary Partnership Meeting (ASEP).

Lastly, the acting head of state also conveyed the Royal Message from Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni and Queen Mother to the Thai King and Queen.
