Phnom Penh (FN), Apr. 2 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet said that Cambodia stands as a vibrant and welcoming partner within the ASEAN community.

The premier spoke on Tuesday morning (Apr. 2) during the opening of Cambodia-ASEAN Business Summit 2024 under the theme “Unleashing ASEAN’s Potential: Connectivity, Technology, and Inclusive Growth” at Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra.

“Cambodia stands as a vibrant and welcoming partner within the ASEAN community. Our advantageous location provides seamless connectivity across the region, fostering a collaborative ecosystem focused on mutual benefit and regional well-being,” the premier underscored.

At the same time, Samdech Thipadei continued that Cambodia’s strategic membership in key regional and global trade agreements, including ASEAN, RCEP, and the WTO, positions it as a highly integrated player within the dynamic global marketplace.

“Made in Cambodia” products, encompassing garments and bicycles, are now recognized worldwide for their quality and competitive pricing. This signifies Cambodia’s growing presence in the global marketplace, the premier added.

Premier Hun Manet continued, Cambodia firmly believed that a strong, resilient and integrated ASEAN Economic Community can bring about common prosperity for all member states.

In this spirit, the Royal Government of Cambodia is pursuing the so-called Plus-One Strategy by attracting investment, particularly in medium-tech industries, to build factories in Cambodia, supplying parts or intermediate goods to main factories in neighbouring countries in ASEAN.

In addition, Cambodia has promulgated the new Law on Investment to offer investors a compelling combination of untapped potential and strategic advantages with generous incentives for investment projects in key priority sectors. Cambodia is also strategically investing in an interconnected infrastructure network. This comprehensive approach fosters seamless regional connectivity, ensuring efficient access to vital economic corridors within Cambodia and throughout ASEAN.
