Phnom Penh (FN), Apr. 4 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet underlined that the recruitment of civil servants for ministries and institutions aimed to ensure public confidence and must adhere to the principle of "pass with pride, fail without regret” and the management of technical officers is geared towards meeting specific goals and requirements.

The premier spoke on Thursday (Apr. 4) during the closing 2023 annual meeting of the Ministry of Civil Service at the Premier Centre Sen Sok.

On this occasion, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet instructed the Ministry of Civil Service and other stakeholders to continue paying attention to and participating in supporting and implementing improvements in the recruitment of officials to serve in the public administration with merit, transparency, justice, and efficiency. The duration of the competition for the selection of civil servants has been approved by the Royal Government.

Samdech Thipadei underscored, "Based on the standard procedures for the recruitment of officials for ministries and institutions, ensuring the public's trust, that is, proudly, relentlessly, and promoting the organization and placement. To implement the legal documents and the selection and management of technical officers, professional officers, the fulfillment must be maintained."

Premier Hun Manet continued that the Ministry of Civil Service is recognised for playing an important role in supporting and fulfilling the functions of ministries, institutions, and sub-national administrations. It also supports significant reforms of the Royal Government, including decentralization and deconcentration reform, public financial management reform, and priority area reforms such as education and health.

In this seventh-mandate, Samdech Thipadei underlined that public administration reform remains a crucial priority of the Royal Government of Cambodia. The Ministry of Civil Service continues to play a key role in prioritising and focusing more on reform work.

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei further instructed the Ministry of Civil Service to strive for remarkable achievements by supporting the management and development of the public service sector at both national and sub-national levels.

Prime Minister Hun Manet added that the Ministry of Civil Service has reformed the salary system of civil servants, improved the pension system, and enhanced the provision of public services. Additionally, it has fostered partnerships with public service units. The Royal Government aims for a strong, flexible, and efficient public administration.
