Takeo (FN), Apr. 11 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet stated that the Royal Government of Cambodia will strive to expedite economic recovery to pre-COVID19 levels, marking a key objective of the seventh mandate of the Royal Government led by the Cambodian People's Party (CPP).

The premier spoke on Thursday (Apr. 11) during an inauguration of Kirisu Dairy Farm in Takeo province.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet highlighted that despite global challenges such as epidemics, economic inflation, and renewed conflicts, Cambodia's economy has shown resilience. Despite a minor slowdown in 2019, the economy has sustained an annual growth rate of 5.6% in 2024, with projections indicating an increase to 6.6%. Stability and new investments are bolstering Cambodia's economic prospects, fuelling hope for continued growth.

On the occasion, the premier acknowledged the global economic downturn, which has seen numerous foreign companies shutter or downsize operations. Despite this, Cambodia has managed to stabilise economic growth through concerted efforts by the Royal Government. The tourism sector, along with various other industries, has played a crucial role in driving this growth.

Premier Hun Manet viewed the post-COVID19 period, amidst crises in some nations, as a phase where Cambodia is actively striving for economic recovery and growth. He underlined the imperative for the Royal Government to prioritise the nation's and the people's welfare during this crucial time.

The premier underscored the Royal Government's dedication to boosting all sectors of the economy to generate more employment opportunities for the people. He urged unity between the people and the government to navigate through this challenging period, recognising the global difficulty faced by nations worldwide.

In addition, the premier also stressed the significant efforts exerted by the Royal Government of Cambodia towards the nation's economic recovery following consecutive crises. Particularly in its seventh mandate, the government has remained tirelessly dedicated, dispelling any notion of a 'honeymoon period,' as some have suggested.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet affirmed the Royal Government's commitment to overcoming all challenges to fulfil the well-being and necessities of the people. He reiterated that as long as the CPP retains leadership, the government will advance across all sectors, ensuring security, constructing infrastructure, and enhancing educational standards for the people's prosperity.
