Takeo (FN), Apr. 11 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet noted that the market price of agricultural products fluctuates annually without guarantee. However, the Royal Government and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries will strive to stabilise the market price. In particular, reducing production costs to enable farmers to gain higher profits.

The premier spoke on Thursday (Apr. 11) during an inauguration of Kirisu Dairy Farm in Takeo province.

Samdech Thipadei said that the agricultural sector played a crucial role in the kingdom's economy. Thus, the Royal Government continued to promote good-quality production and strived to stabilise the market price for agricultural products, especially strategic crops.

"Of course, the market price for agricultural products fluctuates annually without guarantee. For instance, this year, the price of rice is increasing; next year, the price of longan will increase, and sometimes, the price of cashew or the price of rubber will increase in the market. The Royal Government, along with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries, is diligently working to ensure market availability and establish fixed prices for certain strategic products. In this mandate, the Royal Government has allocated a budget of USD 100 million for agricultural intervention," the premier underscored.

Samdech Thipadei urged Khmer Fresh Milk Co., Ltd to explore the feasibility of enhancing and expanding its production capacity in response to the increasing demand in Cambodia and contribute to ensuring food security and nutrition. Furthermore, Samdech Thipadei underscored the importance of strengthening quality and hygiene to foster greater customer trust and confidence.

In addition, the milk production from the four dairy farms in Cambodia played a vital role in promoting nutrition, especially among children and students, who require adequate nutrition for physical and mental well-being. Additionally, it reduced the dependency on imported milk production from abroad.
