Siem Reap (FN), Apr. 20 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet advised directed doctors and health workers to uphold honour and dignity through unwavering adherence to professional ethics in delivering healthcare services to the people.

The premier spoke on Saturday (Apr. 20) during an inauguration of the surgical service centre of Siem Reap Provincial Hospital.

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei also underscored the values of honesty, integrity, and equity, stressing the imperative to ensure that no patient faces discrimination or denial of medical care based on socio-economic status, cultural practices, religion, or political affiliations.

Samdech Thipadei advised to continue strive to improve the quality, efficiency, and safety of healthcare services, aiming to enhance the health outcomes of patients through the provision of comprehensive healthcare services. This includes promoting healthcare education, preventive services, diagnostics, treatment, and nursing services, as well as monitoring and evaluating service quality which encompasses clinical governance, implementing regular measures to improve service quality, utilising innovative digital technologies and enhancing the knowledge and skills of doctors and health workers aiming to maintain a high standard of services, meeting citizens' expectation.

In addition, the premier also instructed to strengthen the capacity of emergency services provision in hospitals and enhance the efficiency of the timely transporting system for patients or victims in need of emergency services. In this regard, emergency services in hospitals and ambulance services shall be prepared with doctors and staff on duty 24 hours a day, equipped with emergency supplies, medications, and sufficient communication means for intervention.
