Phnom Penh (FN), Apr. 26 – Cambodian Senate President, Samdech Techo Hun Sen highlighted that the construction of schools, roads, hospitals, wells, ponds, and pagodas has been made possible through the generosity of tycoons, namely Oknha and Neak Oknha.

Samdech Techo spoke on Friday (Apr. 26) during his gala dinner with Cambodian Oknha Association at Garden City Hotel Phnom Penh.

Samdech Hun Sen continued that stating that almost half of the schools nationwide have been built with the assistance of philanthropists and tycoons.

Taking this opportunity, the Senate president pointed out that the participation of tycoons has contributed to boosting economic growth and increasing employment opportunities for citizens.

Samdech Techo added that during various disasters, especially the COVID19 outbreak, nearly USD 200 million has been donated to the government to address the crisis. Compare to developed countries, where there are many rich individuals, the level of active contribution seen in Cambodia is remarkable.
